Silken wrinkled her nose.  “I’m not feelin’ that right now.  Let’s just forget it ever happened.”

“Silken McCullen, you will not back out of this.  You need to take responsibility for your action.” Suave gave her a look that said she planned on nagging until her sister gave in.

“All right, I’ll apologize,” Silken, said with a groan.  “Goody Two-Shoes.”  The second part was muttered under her breath.  Of course, Suave heard and delivered a slap that made her leg sting.  “Hey, watch it,” Silken grumbled.  “I bruise easy.”

Suave totally ignored her.  “He’s getting away,” she said, jabbing at Silken’s injured leg.  “Write down his license plate number.  Quick.”

“Okay, okay.”  Silken dug around in her purse till she found a pen and a Pizza Hut receipt.  “What’s the number?”

When Suave told her, she scribbled it on the back of the receipt then reached over and dropped the paper in her sister’s lap.

That got her a growl.  “What’re you giving it to me for?  You’re the one who needs to find him and apologize.”

“Hey, you can do it for me.”  Silken raised her eyebrows.  “You’re the one who’s insisting that he needs an apology so you can apologize for me.  He won’t know the difference.”

“No, I will not apologize for you even if you chewed him out on my behalf.  I’ve been telling you for years to stop fighting my fights.  Now it’s come back to bite you.”  Not taking her...

Read Once upon a Billionaire (Billionaire Boys Club #4)(36) online free by Jessica Clare

Once upon a Billionaire (Billionaire Boys Club #4)(36) Author: Jessica Clare Which was really rough, because she rather liked him. He was smart, and took his duties very seriously. He didn’t smile much, but when he did, it felt a bit like a present. He made her laugh with his dry wit, and he seemed genuinely interested in what she had to say, which was nice considering most people heard her accent and dismissed her as an idiot. And he kissed divinely, like he had all the time in the world to taste and savor her. Sometimes, she really, really liked him. And other times, she wanted him to take a long walk off a short pier. There was a knock on the adjoining door, and Maylee sucked in a breath, jerking up the last of her zipper. “Just a sec!” She dragged on the skirted crinoline that would make her dress have a little bit of flare and act as a slip, and shimmied it up her legs before sliding her feet into her shoes. “Be there in two shakes of a lamb’s tail!” She could have sworn she...

And I know that it's completely, insanely ridiculous. I'm barely leaving home, really. I'm going to college, only a few hours' drive from this darling house where I've lived since I was a baby. No, I'm not going to start crying again. I'll be sharing a room with Bonnie and Meredith, my two best friends in the whole world. In the same dorm, only a couple of floors away will be my beloved Stefan. My other best friend, Matt, will be just a short walk across campus. Even Damon will be in an apartment in the town nearby. Honestly, I couldn't stick any closer to home unless I never moved out of this house at a...

Read Missing You(37) online free by Harlan Coben

Missing You(37) Author: Harlan Coben “She saved my life. That’s what she does. She’s strong like that. She’d never just let me go. She would have held on no matter what, even if I took her down with me. And now, well, it’s my turn to hold on. Do you get that?” Kat nodded slowly. “I do.” “I’m sorry, Kat. I should have showed you the texts. But if I had, you’d have never listened.” “Speaking of which.” “What?” “You only showed me the one text. There were two.” He pressed a few buttons on his phone and handed it to her. The text read: Having a wonderful time. Can’t wait to tell you all about it. I have a big surprise too. Phone reception is terrible. Miss you. Kat handed him back the phone. “Big surprise. Any idea what that means?” “No.” Her cell phone rang. Talk about the perfect interruption—Kat could see from the caller ID that her mother was calling. “I’ll be right back,” Kat said. She ducked into the bedroom, wondering how long her own mother would last in a riptide, and...
